Youth visit to Dryandra Woodlands

6 October 2022

Keedac arranged a day out to Dryandra Woodlands, we had around 40 people on the day, including staff, youth, clients and other community members.
We had a barbecue, kangaroo stew, dampers and fruit platters. The youth played cricket and threw frisbees around, then everyone went for a tour around Dryandra on the bus. It was a great day, and everybody enjoyed themselves, and are all wanting to know when it is going to happen again.

This will lead on to an Aboriginal Painting course which will soon run, teaching crafts and painting skills. The tie-in with Dryandra is that Curtin Uni run a research program at Dryandra. As our students learn skills of painting and related crafts, we’ll take them out to Dryandra to practice on the landscapes and historical sites there. In time, we expect many of the paintings and art works to get exhibited at Curtin Art Gallery, Arts Narrogin Gallery and others.

Interested? Come and visit us at the Community Hub, 2 Grant Street, Narrogin, 9 – 2 Monday to Friday to have a yarn about it.
